INS & OUTS FOR 2024: The marketing trends you need to know about
Want to know how NOT to let your brands’ socials slip through the cracks in 2024? Before you go dreaming up innovative marketing strategies and a fresh new way to spice up your content, take a moment to reflect last year's downfalls. Identifying things that no longer serve you or your business is arguably just as important as all the fuss about newness. The ‘in and out’ trend sweeping the internet is rooted in the idea of moving out something that isn’t working in order to make room for something better. Naturally, we’ve gathered some insight on what we believe is in and what should make its way out of the marketing industry this year.
IN:
1. Having fun with your content + actually entertaining your audience — the year to get creative & think outside the box! What do you like seeing on your feed or deem as scroll stopping content? Perhaps it’s a fun reel or relatable memes.
2. Purpose driven marketing — we’re seeing a surge in purpose driven content & marketing campaigns that align with customers’ values.
3. Using interactive content formats — as attention spans shrink, marketers are turning to interactive content formats to captivate audiences and encourage active participation such as quizzes, polls, and surveys which are quickly gaining popularity.
4. Short-form video content — speaking of lack of attention…. This is possibly the best way to captivate an audience?! If it's done correctly of course.
OUT:
1. Posting to post — sound familiar? The urge to ‘post’ because you know you should, or just to put something out there is not the way to look at it. These types of posts are typically boring, not thought out and have no purpose.
2. Brand colours & campaigns that look like everyone else's — the ick of social media… No one likes a copycat. Working towards being different & original will go a long way.
3. Posting to get engagement — this should not be your focus. Posting to build a community, turn visitors into followers and have an active audience is where our priorities lie.
4. Showing up only to sell — not it. Who wants to just be bombarded with the idea of buying something? Content marketing infused with a personalised touch, relatable & educational topics will take charge.
As we have started to navigate the dynamic marketing landscape of 2024, staying adaptable and innovative will be the overarching key to success…
